The Faux Pas Label brand was designed for those who make no mistakes; for “the only mistakes we make are the ones that we place upon ourselves”. Designed, produced and distributed solely in Canberra, Faux Pas Label believes in the importance of community. We are for Canberra, by Canberra.
The label was dreamt up by young entrepreneur and student
Adam Priest, who acts as CEO, Chief Designer and Advertising Director.
From his experience in the fashion world he has learnt 3 things:
There are some really nice clothes out there.
There is always a piece of clothing you want.
That clothing piece is always overpriced.
Being fashionable is an important staple in one’s self image and character, to be fashionable, you shouldn’t have to spend big. In today’s fashion market it’s all about being minimal, so why shouldn’t you have to pay minimal?

Belonging to Canberra’s quickly evolving fashion scene,
Faux Pas Label promises to be a personality in the community, not another brand in the industry. We understand that the people of Canberra appreciate quality made goods that are produced domestically and support local businesses. Faux Pas Label have teamed up with long-term local Canberra business ‘Rojo Customs’. Rojo Customs located in the city centre, provide the sustainable quality that we need for our garments in accordance with our quality.
We understand that 2020 has been a terrible year for not only the nation, but for the mental health of our community’s most vulnerable. At Faux Pas Label, we want to help out those who aren’t making mistakes but are still placing them upon themselves. For our launch in the late months of 2020, we’ve partnered up with ‘Menslink’; a Canberra-based mental health organisation, we will be donating a percentage of profit made to help those in need.
OUR BRAND INSIGHT
Building a fashion brand in Canberra was never going to be easy, there is limited resources in terms of production, limitations in regard to fashionable retailers and exorbitant rental prices which make setting up a shopfront in the city close to impossible for small businesses. Along with the current situation, it makes a fashion start-up in Canberra that much harder. We hope that at Faux Pas Label we can support the community and they can support us back. We are for Canberra, by Canberra.
